Sirromet Winery - July 2010

We got up really early one Sunday morning and drove about 45 minutes south to Mount Cotton to have breakfast at Sirromet. It was really worth getting up early for and I am sure that we will be back!

Sea World - June 2010

A wonderful day was had by all at SeaWorld down on the Gold Coast. Abi was delighted with the dolphin show and all the other sea creatures on display.

Mother's Day - May 2010

On Mother's day, we went into the city and I was spoilt by Guy and Abi - we had a wonderful day and had lunch at a restaurant called "Venice", which is located on the river front...

Mon Repos Beach Camping - May 2010

During May, we took the opportunity to travel up north (the furthest north we have been from Brisbane!), past Bundaberg to a place called Mon Repos Beach.

The journey from home took about 7 hours.

The campsite we stayed at is called Turtle Sands - and the weekend we went was the last weekend that they opended the site for camping to the public. From now on, you can only stay there in cabins, which are a bit further from the beach and camping is arranged privately only. I can't even get into their website at the moment. This is because it is on a conservation site for turtles and the camping can be disruptive to their breeding. It was not the time of year for us to be able to see the turtles, but it is a most beautiful place.

It was very special to be able to set-up our tents so close to the beach. As usual, Abi had an absolutely wonderful time. We went with 2 other families and she had a playmate, one of her best friends, all weekend. Such fun...

Levuka Camping - April 2010

In April, Guy took Abi camping to a place called Levuka - you can see on the map to the left that it is in NSW, about 2.5 hours drive, south of Brisbane.

As I was not there (relaxing at home!) - I can only provide some cool photos from the weekend. They both had a wonderful time!

Cabarita Beach New South Wales - March 2010

Still trying to play catch-up on the blog... to tell you about our holiday in March 2010...

We booked a week timeshare to spend some time on the beach in NSW. Cabarita Beach is about 2 hours drive from Brisbane. Sadly, it rained almost all week! But we did get a chance to relax and spend some time driving around.

It was only possible to go to the beach on one of the days - it was quite windy and cool, Abi got stung by a jellyfish... so we did not stay too long, such a pity because she does love the beach and she WAS promised a beach holiday!

We took a riverboat cruise down the Tweed River. This included feeding the birds - which Abi loved, lunch and a relaxing trip up the river and back again... This is us next to the boat

We also took a drive inland to Mount Tambourine - this is a beautiful area... with quite a bit to see - we visited the Glow Worm Caves at Cedar Creek Estate, the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk - here is a picture of Abi on the skywalk. We definitely want to come back to this area again.

On one rainy day we took a drive to a natural phenomenon called 'the natural bridge' in Springbrook National Park - we stopped here and took the walk to see the natural rock arch formed over Cave Creek - created over millions of years by water tumbling through the roof of a basalt cave...
